The blended online MHFA course for workplaces has been adapted from the Standard Mental Health First Aid course for workplaces. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown our course is now available completely online to aid workplaces take care of the mental wellbeing of their employees.

What does the course teach my team?
In this course you will learn about the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems, how to provide initial help as an MHFAider, how to support and guide the person to get professional help, and how to provide mental health first aid in a crisis situation using a practical, evidence-based action plan. This course focuses on the workplaces with scenarios and exercises that will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to provide initial mental health first aid to assist colleagues, and other workplace contacts who may be developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis, and how to connect people needing assistance to existing workplace supports and external professional help.
In what format is the course taught?
This course is fully taught online.
Who can attend this course?
Ideally any one at work place. Human Resources and Line managers due to their important role and influence on their teams are encouraged to be the frontline of gaining mental health first aiders skills to help their team members. Knowledge on mental health will influence and advocate for new policies and intervention supporting mental wellbeing in a sustainable way.
What topics are covered in the course?
There are two components covered in the course.
Component 1 is self-paced interactive eLearning (7-8 hours)
Component 2 is MHFA India Instructor led video conferencing (5 x 1.5-hour sessions).

Component 1 will cover the developing mental health problems (depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance use problems) and mental health crises (suicidal thoughts and behaviour, non-suicidal self-injury, panic attacks, traumatic events, sever psychotic states, severe effects from alcohol or other drug use, and aggressive behaviour).

Component 2 provides the course participants with an opportunity to revise content covered in the self-paced eLearning program and to consolidate the application of this content with the development of practical skills in a group environment online.
Who teaches the course?

Eligibility Criteria

This course is adapted from the current Indian 4th Edittion Standard Face-to-Face Mental Health First Aid Course for adults. Course specific content, health system information and resources related to the provision of Mental Health First Aid within India.
Course participants are required to be Indian residents and over the age of 18.
