MHFA India Launches "Change the Narrative" Suicide Prevention Campaign 2024 

A Call to Action for Media, Communities, and the Public to Support Mental Health Awareness

Chennai, September 1st 2024 – MHFA India is excited to announce the launch of its Suicide Prevention Campaign 2024, themed "Change the Narrative." Beginning on September 1st, 2024, this groundbreaking campaign aims to shift the conversation around mental health and suicide prevention, encouraging active participation from media, MHFAiders, and the public. 

Campaign Overview 

The "Change the Narrative" campaign is designed to engage communities and create a powerful impact by involving Mental Health First Aiders and the public in a series of activities that promote awareness, support, and understanding around suicide prevention. The campaign will feature: 

  • Weekly Interactive Tasks: Participants will engage in activities focused on starting meaningful conversations, spreading awareness about mental health, and learning skills to support those in need. 

  • Social Media Advocacy: By using the hashtag #MHFAINDIA, participants will share their stories, impacts, and learning experiences, amplifying the message of the campaign nationwide. 

  • Media Collaboration: We invite leading media houses to sign up and actively participate in the campaign. Media teams are encouraged to join weekly tasks, share coverage of the campaign’s progress, and contribute to changing the narrative around mental health and suicide prevention. 

Call to Action 

MHFA India seeks the involvement of journalists, news anchors, reporters, and media organizations to become champions of mental health awareness. By joining this campaign, media personnel can help destigmatize mental health conversations, provide a platform for critical discussions, and engage their audience in meaningful ways.

  • Engage over 3,000 MHFAiders to lead conversations in their communities and workplaces. 

  • Encourage public participation across all regions of India, making mental health support accessible to everyone.
