Why should I attend this course?

The awareness about mental health in India is low which is reflected by the low number of people who seek professional treatment for mental illnesses. The knowledge about mental wellbeing and common mental health problems will empower the community to identify mental illnesses at an early stage and prevent them growing into serious problems. By learning the skills of early identification and prevention, mental health problems can be identified at the community level and professional help can be given to the person quickly.

Research studies have repeatedly shown that MHFA training is associated with improved knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments and appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness. It is also associated with decreased stigma and an increase in help provided. MHFA training in workplaces provides an opportunity to establish a positive working environment and builds a first responder system to identify and address the mental health problems of the employees.
